Gerald Vizenor was born in Minneapolis, but spent much of his childhood on the White Earth Reservation in northern Minnesota. Vizenor attended New York U. for two years, transferring to the U. of Minnesota where he earned his B.A. in 1960. His graduate studies include U. of Minnesota and Harvard U.. His career includes work for the Minnesota Department of Corrections, and the Minneapolis Tribune. Vizenor's teaching career includes professorship at Lake Forest U., Bemidji State College, U. of Minnesota, U. of California at Berkeley, and the U. of California at Santa Cruz. Vizenor incorporates the Trickster in many of his writings. - Native American Authors Project
